With human resource and faciliies support from Hanoi School of Public Heealth and funding suport from Atlantic Philanthropies, USA, Vietnam Public Health Association office was established in 1/2004. Right after the establishment of VPHA office , members of VPHA excutive committee and office staff have been actively working to help activities of VPHA become sustainble and structured according to definite principles. . During the process of working, with support form WHO, Vietnam Public Health Association asked an senior expert of Newzeland Public Health Association, Mr Jonh Smith, to develop the year 2004 working plan , and orient the development of Vietnam Public Health Association Especially, from 2/2004, Vietnam Public Health Association has been closely working in collabration with HealthBridge Canada (formerly named Path Canada) in tobacco control sector, and admited the Tobacco control working group to be an organization member of Vietnam Public Health Association to guarantee the legality and sustainability of the group. Up to now, Vietnam Public Health Association has been working with Health Bridge Canada to implement a number of tobacco control interventions at national level including: Mainstreaming, the project “reducing social aceptability of smoking in Vietnam”….. In particular, Vietnam Public Health Association has recently expanded partnership with a large number of settings in the Vietnam health network, international organizations including World Federation of Public Health Associations, South East Asian Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA)....In addition, Vietnam Public Health Association has been working in collabration with Ford Foundation and Dong Nai Provincial Public Health Association to carry out an operational intervention study “ Applying Public Health approach to reduce burden/harmful risks of the dioxin (orange agent) in an isolated hotspot- Bien Hoa, Dong Nai .
