PATH is seeking a Project Officer to implement the four-year (2008 to 2011)

PATH is an international, nonprofit organization that creates sustainable, culturally relevant
solutions, enabling communities worldwide to break longstanding cycles of poor health.
PATH's mission is to improve the health of people around the world by advancing
technologies, strengthening systems, and encouraging healthy behaviors. PATH has been
working in Vietnam since the early 1980s, with a permanent office established in Hanoi in
1997.
PATH is seeking a Project Officer to implement the four-year (2008 to 2011) project
Enhancing the role of pharmacies as community health care providers. The overall goal of
the project is to improve health outcomes among community members at project sites. This
will be achieved by leveraging the private pharmacy sector to enhance the impact of existing
primary health care services. The project is being implemented in five provinces including
Thai Nguyen, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, and Vinh Long.
Under the guidance and direction of the Project Manager, the successful candidate will liaise
with provincial authorities and local project coordinators to effectively plan and implement
all project activities at project sites including training, supervision, and community outreach;
finalize the development of pharmacy training materials; and provide management support
for the project as needed.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required
• Medical doctor, advanced degree in public health would be an advantage.
• Demonstrated experience in the public and private health sectors, familiarity with
pharmacy issues an advantage.
• Previous experience developing and implementing training for health personnel.
• Experience working effectively with government counterparts.
• Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Strong project planning and coordination skills.
• A minimum of seven years relevant work experience.
• Good written and spoken Vietnamese and English.
• Willingness and ability to travel within Vietnam up to 40 percent per year.
This is a local hire position with a starting annual gross salary in the range US$10,700 to
US$13,400 (depending on experience) plus competitive benefits (paid in VND)
