JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health is hiring the best, brightest, and most committed individuals to help us carry out a new, exciting research study entitled “Prevention for Positives: A Randomized Controlled Trial Among Vietnamese HIV-Positive Injection Drug Users”.
Position(s):      Project Officer 
                        (Two positions)
Based in Hanoi, travel between
Hanoi and Thai Nguyen required.
Description of the study
In collaboration with the
Thai
Nguyen
Center for Preventive Medicine, the 5-year randomized controlled trial will be conducted in Thai Nguyen province,
Vietnam, to examine the efficacy of a multilevel social-behavioral intervention in reducing HIV risks among HIV-infected injection drug users (IDUs). At the structural level, the intervention consists of community-based stigma reduction programs; at the individual level it consists of posttest counseling sessions and skill-building support groups for HIV-infected IDUs. We will conduct ethnographic research, conduct a baseline survey, enroll participants, implement the intervention and follow participants for 2 years after enrollment.
Qualifications:
-         Applicants must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in a university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in behavioral or social science, epidemiology, public health, or medicine, with superior academic achievement (grades in Vietnamese: “Kha”, “Xuat sac” ) OR 1 year of specialized experience in related discipline which demonstrated that the applicant has acquired specific knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. -         Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English (speaking and writing).
-         A desire to learn and develop new skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Depending on knowledge, skills and abilities of successful applicant(s), primary duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
-         Assist study investigators and study coordinator in developing and piloting data collection instruments.
-         Participate in the development of standardized operating procedures.
-         Collaborate with recruitment team to recruit and follow up study participants.
-         Participate in field supervision of data collection process (frequent travel to study sites required).
-         Data analyses (qualitative, quantitative, and epidemiologic data) and writing manuscripts are encouraged, but not required.
-         Translate project documents (English-Vietnamese-English)
