Duties and responsibilities
The Medical Translator’s primary responsibility is to accompany an international HIV specialist on field site visits to translate in the clinical setting: English to Vietnamese and Vietnamese to English. All translations should be of consistently high quality and reflect an understanding of the intent of the speaker rather than merely the literal translation of the words. The Translator will liaise and work with all staffs but will be supervised by the Program Director.
Additionally, when not traveling the Medical Translator will be asked to translate advanced medical lectures and documents: English to Vietnamese and Vietnamese to English.
Requirements
- Medical Degree
- Native Vietnamese speaker
- Fluency in English
- Computer literacy: Fluent in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, and ability to conduct internet research
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Experience in translation or other communications-related fields
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and determination to meet deadlines
- Specific experience in the HIV/AIDS desirable
- Willing to travel frequently
