SOCIAL SCIENCE FELLOWSHIPS FOR MASTER STUDY IN
MEDICAL SOCIOLOGY, HEALTH ECONOMICS AND MEDICAL ANTHROPOLOGY

2008 Competition

The Hanoi School of Public Health (HSPH) will be selecting qualified staff to apply for Masters degree Fellowships in Medical Sociology, Health Economics, or Medical Anthropology. Funds for this program have been provided by the Ford Foundation. The goal of this program is to enable the Hanoi School of Public Health to address both current and longer-term public health needs in Vietnam

Study Program
This master program is divided into four phases and spans approximately 10-24 months (depending on specific master program in the USA, Europe or Australia). 

Eligibility:
HSPH current staff or other applicants outside of HSPH who has interest in working at HSPH.
1. Hold a bachelor degree in the social sciences and/or health sciences (Anthropology, Sociology, Finance/Economics, Health Studies).
2. Demonstrate proven ability in English (580 TOEFL score or 6.5 IELTS) and complete the GRE test. GRE is required right after selection
3. Be less than 35 years old
4. Have completed at least two years of experience, research or community/service based activities in the social sciences or public health
5. Demonstrate an interest in conducting social science research applied in health
6. Provide written commitment to work, on a full time basis, for the HSPH for at least 3 years upon return.

Application and Selection Schedule:
All candidates nominated by the HSPH must complete and submit application forms (generic) and required attachments to the HSPH. Other applicants must submit proof of permission to join this program from their current employers.

v Submit copy of Official TOEFL/IELTS Scores to HSPH: August 31, 2008
v Interview: October 2008
v HSPH announces selection results: October 31, 2008
v Selected applicants complete university applications November 2008

HSPH will interview applicants and recommend to CEEVN the most qualified for university placement. CEEVN will determine academic placements and manage fellows’ study programs. Fellowships can only be confirmed after the nominated candidate gains admission to the doctoral degree program.
