Introduction

  History: As soon as the School of Health Management established in 1976, Rehabilitation was combined with Occupational Health in the Department of Occupational Health and Rehabilitation. In 2001, the Department was seperated from Occupational Health with the name of Rehabilitation Department when the School of Public Health announced its establisment.
Function:
- Develop and implement curriculums/courses on early disability identification and intervention, assessment of rehabilitation needs for PWDs, Community based Rehabilitation.  
- Conduct researches of disability and rehabilitation as well as related issues.
- Implement and participate projects on the model of disability management and service provision for PWDs, CBR, early identification and intervention...
Trainees: Post-graduated and graduate students, Health Managers, persons working in the field of disability and rehabilitation for people with disabilities, family and community mambers...

Curriculum objectives: After studying this subject, the students can be able

 

 

1. Present the concepts of disability and rehabilitation
2. Apply strategies of disability prevention for a particular disability 3. Describe rehabilitation, inclusive education and employment services for different kinds of disability
4. Describe philogophy and practise of community-based rehabilitation program (CBR)
5. Describe the system of rehabilitation services provision and management.
6. To develop a plan of rehabilitation service provision for PWDs.

   Reseaches have been conducted:

- Rehabilitation needs and situation of service provision for PWDs in some poplation of Red River Delta (MoH).
- Impact assessment of the model of management and information provision on disability and rehabilitation for the mothers of CWDs in Hoai Duc District October 2006-June 2007. (HSPH).

- Training objectives: After the courses, the trainees expectedly can do the following tasks:
+ Identify and analyse problems that relate to disability and rehabilitation
+ Develop and coordinate/implement or participate in activities of disability prevention and intervention.
+ Implement/particiapte in CBR program.
