DANANG CHILD INJURY PREVENTION
Hanoi School of Public Health's Center for Injury Policy and Prevention Research in collaboration with TASC on a project in Da Nang Province in an intervention program that cover all 7 districts of Danang.
The project design was completed and the protocol was cleared through government channels in 2005. Field work in Da Nang began in the first quarter of 2006 with a baseline survey of the whole province. This will give the team the ability to compare Da Nang with the national data from 4 years ago, and provide an accurate place to start with in measuring interventions. Data is currently being processed, , with 130,000 survey forms returned.
Because the focus of the project is in Central Vietnam in Da Nang , the facility there will function as the Center for Injury Prevention Research, Vietnam , (CIPRV), still as a part of HSPH. Much of the outreach in this project will occur through the schools.
The work will also be closely coordinated with the injury activities UNICEF/ Vietnam is undertaking through an expanded memorandum of understanding with UNICEF/ Vietnam . UNICEF has an injury project active in another part of the country, and it is expected that lessons learned in either environment will be quickly shared to benefit both.
